“The mother (age 32) is currently 6 months pregnant. This was an unplanned pregnancy. She has been a homemaker for the past ten years but is currently attending college and wants to prepare for a career in the near future.”Subjective wellbeing (SWB) is frequently used synonymously with a person’s happiness (Broderick, 2015). Theorists like Freud and Erickson propose that work experience and the general sense of oneself as a competent worker are important predecessors to one’s happiness (Broderick, 2015). There has been observation of human nature that proposes that living a well lived; grounded life gives humans a sense that life has meaning. Humans have the capacity to adapt to stress and challenges in life and this skill is crucial in order to survive regardless of the stage of life. When there are circumstances that exist and they place a strain on a person and their role, it creates a role strain (Goode, 1960). With that said, the following post will address the “Mother” who is pregnant and in college.
