Chloe Shen Book Report Two Mr. Tim Compare and Contrast Generally, an initiation story undergoes three stages: separation, initiation, and return. Justifiably, the Hobbit and the Wizard of Oz both undergo numerous events and establish different traits of different characters. During the development of two plots, there are many similarities and differences between the Hobbit and the Wizard of Oz . Actually, the contents of two stories can be compared and contrasted from three impressive perspectives: magic world; unity; and there is no place like home. The first similarity is that the Hobbit and the Wizard of Oz both appear in a magic world which does not exist in the real world. People all want to escape from the real world and explore the new. The two books use some similar characters: in the Hobbit , there is a wolf pack which is controlled by the Azog, an Orc war-chief who he wants to kill Thorin Oakenshield; in the Wizard of Oz , there is also a wolf pack, which is the Wicked Witch sent to kill Dorothy. Wolf symbolizes speed, evil and danger. However,
