ABSTRACTThe main purpose of this experiment is to use the potentiometer to measure the Emf of a cell. Inorder to calibrate a voltmeter and to contrast the Emf of a cell with its terminal voltage. Theapparatus used were the following: Potentiometer, 0-12 volt power supply, flashlight, standardcell, galvanometer, double pole switch, slide wire resistor, carbon pile resistor, voltmeter andresistor decade box. In part I, a potentiometer was used to measure the Emf unknown value, byusing a slider C, to balance and find out the values of Lx and Ls. In part II, the potentiometer wasused to calibrate the voltmeter, the volt values varied from 0.5 to 2.5 V, hence several Emf valueswere obtained and a graph was obtained.DATA ANALYSISPART I: EMF of flashing cellData Table 1:
