Mike Rosenbloom CMM 253 Professor Seymour 2-20-08 Hartford has Record Setting Day against UNH WEST HARTFORD, CT – Last time the Hawks saw the Wildcats, they got mauled by more than 20 points. This time however, was a different story. The Hawks set a school record by hitting 18 three-pointers, in an 82-63 victory over New Hampshire on Sunday afternoon. The Hawks (15-13, 9-4 America East) broke their own record for threes that they set earlier in the season. They are now on a five game winning streak, and hold sole possession of second place in the conference. New Hampshire (7-18, 4-9 America East) lost their fifth game in a row and is now in seventh place. Sophomore Joe Zeglinski stole the spotlight during the game. He broke a school record of his own, hitting 9-of-10 from three point land. He finished the game with a career high 31 points, and earned America East player of the week honors.

The previous record for a single game was 12, which Hartford destroyed in a game earlier this season against North Texas with 17. That mark stood until Sunday, when Clint Kuban hit the 18 th three of the game with 27 seconds left to play. Hartford took control of the game midway through the first half. The Hawks went on a 22-0 run and took a 41-20 lead with 2:47 left to play. They didn’t look back after that, never letting the Wildcats get closer than 13 the rest of the game. The Hawks shot a season-high 60 percent for the game. The last time they cracked the 60 percent mark for shooting was in the 2002-03 season against Stony Brook.
