Mike Rosenbloom CMM 253W Professor Seymour 3-5-08 Police are still investigating a car accident on I-70 yesterday afternoon. Gary Evenson, 33 of Springfield, was driving when he ran into a road-construction barrier and rolled over three times before the car caught fire. Evenson was able to roll out of the car before another motorist stopped to help him and pull him to safety. The accident happened around 3 p.m. yesterday. Police are still investigating the exact cause of the accident, but some witnesses report that he either fell asleep, was intoxicated, or just wasn’t paying enough attention. According to the police, Evenson hit 24 barrels along a single six-mile strip. One motorist reported seeing him weaving around

Evenson is currently in satisfactory condition in Springfield Hospital with a broken arm, a slight concussion, and burns on 50 percent of his body. Evenson was driving a new green and white Pontiac Bonneville, which was to be a gift to his fiancée. He was on his way to Kansas City to make a presentation, and also was due to be married there next weekend. The wedding has been postponed. Evenson had mentioned to his colleagues that he was tired, and had some pain in his shoulder, but he thought he had just pulled a muscle....
