After reading the first three chapter of The Crying of Lot 49 , I realized that I have absolutely no idea what is going on. The book seemed so random, and it seemed to go into so many different areas, that no matter how many times I re-read it and how many times I tried, there was absolutely no way I was going to understand what was going on. I understood who Oepdia was at first, but then more and more characters kept being introduced and I lost track of who was who. I’m hoping class discussion will make sense of what I’ve read so far, and hopefully the rest of the book will also be a little easier to understand. I’m assuming it

Unformatted text preview: will eventually turn into some kind of mystery, but I haven’t really seem where that could come into play yet, except for the bones in the bottom of the lake. I know there is a connection between everything that has come into play so far, but I really have no idea what it is. I know I should have more to say, but honestly I can’t think of anything else that seems relevant. I’m hoping I’ll enjoy this book more once I understand it, but right now, everything just seems like a huge blur....
