Hailey Sojka Pedahzur Essay “Suicide terrorism does not appear out of thin air. In most cases, it surfaces after long periods of conflict and following the exhaustion of many other warfare tactics”. This quote exemplifies what is at the heart of Ami Pedahzur’s message throughout “Suicide Terrorism”. Although the specific reason is not always clearly evident, suicide terrorism most often occurs because of political, ethnic or territorial factors. When one understands the key components of suicide terrorism and those carrying out the missions, one can gain better insight as to why the acts occurred. Pedahzur states that the intention of the attacker’s is ultimately to bring about change; while the initial intent is to bring harm to as many people as possible this is not the ultimate goal. By using violence in the form of suicide terrorism the organization can get the attention of secondary sources, these people are often the real targets of the attacks.
