What are three kinds of input devices? Input devices are used to input data into a computer. There are three kinds o The Keyboard. This is the most frequently used. There are traditional keyboards and ergonomic keyboards, both serve the same function o The Mouse. This is a pointing device that is external of the main machine. They can be either cordless or come with a USB plug. o Other Pointing Devices pointing devices : anything that can be used to control the pointer (cursor) of a computer. This includes the touchpad on a laptop, the track point in a keyboard of a laptop (the red eraser-like dot in the middle of most IBM laptops) et cetera. o This category also includes wireless pointers (like the presentation clickers in the b-school) and pointing devices for the handicapped that use eye and foot movement as inputs What are four features that distinguish one monitor from another? There are two types of monitors. o Cathode Ray Tubes: which use a gun like device that beams electrons towards the screen to activate dots of color that form the image. o Flat Panel : (most flat panels are Liquid Crystal Display Technology LCD). LCDs form images by manipulating light within a layer of liquid crystal. There are two subsets within these types:
