21-3 Journal: Reflection II am choosing to write about myself as a child and the emotional challenges that I facedfor this journal. Growing up I was never diagnosed with any mental illnesses. However, I shouldhave been. I struggled with emotion regulation, emotional sensitivity, substance abuse and age-appropriate behaviors. I am currently diagnosed with MDD, GAD and PTSD.Looking back on my childhood I wish that my family would have saw the warning signsfor some of these illnesses. I often isolated myself from others and was extremely independent. Iwould feel sick when I was asked to do something that was around strangers. I worried about myperformance in school, sports and was a perfectionist when it came to completing anything.Granted all teens and children are going to experience anxiety but, in some instances, such as inmy life, they do not go away (UR Medical Center, 2021).The developmental challenges that I faced as a child consisted of developing age-appropriate thinking, behavior and skills (Mayo Clinic, 2020).
