Nothing will prepare the United States for the economic crisis that will fall  upon us within the next five years. Gordon is saying that there will be wholesale  unemployment and that businesses that won’t be able to find the kind of qualified  workers that they need to compete in the market.  The reason this will happen is simply because not enough people are being  trained or educated for the amount of work that the upcoming technological  change will bring. The key to preventing workers who don’t have the skills to find  jobs and companies who can’t find suitable workers is education. He also targets  school systems that aren’t fulfilling their jobs of basic education.  2010 is when the meltdown will begin. The reason for this specific year is  that is the year that the baby boomers will begin retiring. The problem with them  retiring is not only will we be lacking their skills, but that the upcoming
