He randomly selected 10 of the bottles, obtaining the following measurements: 26.4 26.9 27.1 27.7 28.1 28.3 28.9 29.4 30.0 30.5 Assume the bottling process results in a normally distributed number of ounces per bottle with unknown mean X μ and standard deviation 2 . 1 = X σ ounces. (a) Calculate x , the point estimate for X . (b) Construct a 95% confidence interval for X . (c) After you present your confidence interval from part (b) to the staff member, he inquires, “Does that mean there is a 95% probability that the true average is in your interval?” Answer yes or no, and provide a brief explanation.
