BUY THE TEXT AND LECTURE GUIDE. 3. GRADING SYSTEM FOR THIS CLASS: THANKS TO THE STUDENTS WHO CAME FRIDAY TO FIGURE THIS OUT! A. QUIZZES WORTH 25%, MIDTERM 35%, AND FINAL 40%. EACH EXAM IS NORMALIZED BY DIVIDING BY THE MEAN. THERE ARE DIFFERENT VERSIONS OF EACH QUIZ, AND THERE IS A MAKE-UP FOR THE MIDTERM AND FOR THE FINAL, BUT THE NORMALIZED SCORES CAN BE COMPARED. NO MAKE-UP QUIZZES. AT THIS TIME, WE INTEND FOR THE MEAN COURSE GRADE TO BE ~ B+. IF YOU GOT THE MEAN ON EVERY TEST, YOU WOULD GET A B+ IN THE COURSE. B. TWO QUIZ GRADES DROPPED (LOWEST SCORES AND/OR MISSED QUIZZES). FOR QUIZ 1 ONLY C. A TOTAL OF 9 QUIZZES CAN BE TAKEN (7 COUNTED TOWARD YOUR GRADE). IF YOU TOOK FEWER THAN 9 FOR ANY REASON , THEN YOU WOULD BE ELIGIBLE TO TAKE THE "MAKE-UP QUIZ" ON WED 11/29.
