Without plants Earth would look like another planet (Mars?). Humans could not live. Ahhhhh... Blecchhh... Where would you rather be? A ni 2 Mars or Tropical Paradise Are we as a civilization (humans) doomed because of our own actions The people of Easter Island, left their island due to habitat destruction but how it was triggered remains a mystery. Humans as a whole are acting no more intelligent than cells in a bacterial culture in a Petri dish. Multiply, grow, eat, deplete environment, die. We are depleting our environment like there is NO tomorrow Our Island-Planet The ONLY place in the universe that we know of capable of supporting life as we know it How to colonize another planet 3 We took BOT 131 from Dr. Huerta OK, so...now that our greenhouse is ready, let's plant the seeds Uh oh... What do you mean "uh oh"? I thought YOU packed them Well, if we don't have plants, we might as well die NOW! 4 Good bye cruel world Adios muchachos How much of the food that humans eat requires plants? How much of the shelter, clothing, medicine, and fuel that humans use requires plants? What do plants require for growth, survival, and productivity? Why should we care?
