Solve the equation: ( 3x – 1 ) / ( 4x – 9 ) = 5 / 7 The solution of the equation is x = –38 5. A poiuyt costs $184.80 including 5% sales tax on the pre-tax price. What is the pre- tax price? The pre-tax price is $176.00 6. A television set cost the wholesaler $300. What will the wholesaler sell the set for if the wholesaler's markup is 20% of the wholesale selling price? The wholesale selling price is $375.00 7. The owner of a small construction business needs a new truck. She can buy a diesel truck for $38,000 and it will cost her $0.24 per mile to operate. She can buy a gas engine truck for $35,600 and it will cost her $0.30 per mile to operate. Find the number of miles she must drive before the costs are equal.

The profit function in P(x) = 58x – 8500 If 285 units are sold, the profit will be $8030 12. A botanist has a 20% solution and a 70% solution of insecticide. How much of each must be used to make 4 liters of a 35% solution? She must use 2.8 liters of the 20% solution and 1.2 liters of the 80% solution. 13. A mixture of ten gallons of a 30% acid solution is obtained by mixing a 20% solution and a 50% solution. Write the system of equations to solve this problem and find out how much of the 20% and 50% solutions are needed. One must use 6.67 gallons of the 20% solution and 3.33 gallons of the 50% solution. 14. A certain commodity has the following costs for a period. Fixed costs: $1500
