This painting shows Romantic sanctification of nature very vividly. Reading about the meaning behind the painting was based on the Book of Isaiah (11:6-9). Hick’s embraced Quaker William Penn peace treaty signed with the Lenape tribe. It also shows children reaching out for the love of wild animals; Hick’s just link between natural innocence and peace....
