CHO Digestion Protein Digestion Nucleic Acid Digestion Fat Digestion Oral Cavity, pharynx, esophagus Polysaccharides (starch, glycogen) are broken down by Salivary Amylase into smaller polysaccharides. Stomach Proteins are broken down by Pepsin into smaller polypeptides. Lumen of small intestine Polysaccharides are broken down by Pancreatic Amylase into smaller disaccharides. Polypeptides are broken down by Pancreatic Trypsin and Chymotrypsin into smaller polypeptides. The smaller polypeptides are then broken down into amino acids by Pancreatic carboxypeptidase. DNA and RNA are broken down into Nucleotides by Pancreatic Nucleases. Fat globules are surrounded by Bile Salts. Fat droplets are broken down into glycerol, fatty acids, and glycerides by Pancreatic lipase . Epithelium of small intestine Remaining polysaccharides are further digested into monosaccharides. Remaining polypeptides are broken down by various Dipeptidases, Carboxypeptidase, and Aminopeptidase into amino acids.
