Running head: SEC 10-K REPORT Costco Wholesale is a multi-billion dollar retailer with warehouses operating in  eight countries. The Washington CEO Magazine named it one of the top three  companies to work for in the state of Washington. Costco is a membership  warehouse club that brings low prices on quality brand-name merchandise to  members. The first warehouse was opened in 1976 in a converted airplane hangar  in San Diego, California, named Price Club. The concept of low price items to  members took of from there. In 1983, Jim Sinegal (Price Club) and Jeff Brotman  opened the first Costco warehouse in Seattle, Washington. It became the first  company to grow from 0 to three billion dollars in sales in less than six years.  Costco and Price Club merged in 1993, operating as PriceCostco with 206  locations and $16 billion in annual sales [ CITATION Cos15 \l 1033 ].  The membership warehouse operates in the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada,  United Kingdom, Japan, Australia, Spain and recently acquired warehouses in  Mexico. Prior to the July 2012 acquisition of the 50% non-controlling interest in  our joint venture in Mexico, the financial position and results of Mexico's  operations were consolidated, and the joint venture partner's share was included in
