Homework considered late beyond the first 10 minutes of lecture. Late Homework Policy: Late homework may be turned-in for a maximum of half credit, up to 4:00 PM on the same Wednesday the homework is due. Late homework should be placed in the manila envelope which will be posted by room 328-C, Facilities Management Building (FMS). Late homework should be labeled with the course as well as your name. Please do not turn in any homework to any mailboxes. Please include the top-page ‘coversheet’, filled-out and stapled to your homework. Show all work. This homework corresponds to chapter 1, and the first two sections of chapter 2, in the course textbook. [Know the course policies!] 1 (a) The first page of this homework assignment is a ‘homework coversheet’. Please print it out, write your name, circle your lab section, and then staple the coversheet to the front of your homework. ‘Answer’ should appear on the front of the student’s homework. 1 (b) According to the instructions in the box at the top of the previous page of this homework assignment, what is the room where you should go to drop-off late homework? (Say the building and room number). Answer: Room 328-C, FMS (Facilities Management Bld.) (It’s ok to leave-off the ‘C’, since that doesn’t actually appear on the door) 1 (c) What is the email address of the person you should contact regarding make-up labs, according to the course syllabus? Answer: ephuang@stat.cmu.edu (the ‘andrew’ domain might also work; but as stated in the syllabus, Grad TAs’ email is at ‘stat’). 1 (d) Suppose Bob is a student who takes 36-201. Suppose his performance is as follows: Homework : Bob’s semester homework average (after dropping the lowest 2 scores) is 80%. Lab : As the semester goes by, Bob starts to think that lab is not important, and he skips a few labs, so he earns only 75% lab average. Hourly Exams
