General Reputations of Democrats and Republicans (Historically) DEMOCRATS: Highly supported by Catholics, Jews African Americans, lower Income, blue collar workers, union Members and BigCity Residents. They also have the reputation of being the Party that cares about "Compassion Issues" like helping the poor, the elderly and the homeless. As a result of their supporters being traditionally wealthier, the Republicans have the reputation of being better at holding down taxes" INTEREST GROUPS Interest Groups are less concerned with Parties and Candidates and more concerned with directly Influencing Public Policy. Lobbyist: is a Person working to influence the decisions of policy makers by intentionally interacting with them.
