Mackenzie Wintin Ms. Defore English 131 November 14, 2007 Chasing the Light Imagine blending together guitars from Blink 182, the lyrics of John Mayer, Dashboard Confessional, and Rob Thomas, with a shot of James Taylor, the product you will get is a catchy, pop-punk album called “Chase the Light” by a band that has stood the test of time Jimmy Eat World. In their fourth album “Bleed American” Jimmy Eat World explored the poppy fun side of their sound with songs that entailed fast guitars, hyper lyrics, and an upbeat sound. But when they dropped their fifth album “Clarity” they took a more mellow turn with toned down lyrics and slow guitars accompanied by very serious lyrics. Now, finally! They have blended the two albums together to create a diverse sixth album that has a little something for everyone. The first couple of tracks entitled “Big Casino” and “Here it Goes” start out with a very pumped up feel and celebrates a live-on-the-edge lifestyle that connects with the youth. These particular songs on the album have very get up and go lyrics with fast paced guitars along with hard beating drums. These two songs provide a very catchy way to start off a new age rock
