Scott Welch 24 October 05 Intro to Christianity Dr. Eppley Reflection The proper role of religion in American public life is an interesting question. There are many aspects which have been dealt with throughout history as to what extent a religion should be influenced upon the public. Supposedly in America one has the right to choose religious beliefs according to foundations which best suit the individual, as long as no person does harm to others. Yet, even in the United States there is religious persecution, just to a smaller extent. The basic line is that religion does run America and the fundamentalist who argue for the expansion of church control are the same people we hold in office. So in all actuality it does not matter what role religion plays in the “view” of public life so long as the people with the power and control have a firm grasp of their beliefs, any outsiders are doomed to find discrimination for their beliefs. Legally, it is known this is a farce and any person with any religious beliefs has a right to practice
