Pouring the Agarose Gel Place the gel tray on your desk and place  a clean glass slide into the gel support  deck. Seal both ends of the tray with tape. Pour 30 mL of electrophoresis buffer into a  test tube and add 0.36g of agarose. Swirl the test tube until the agarose  solution turns cloudy. Place a test tube in a boiling water bath  and boil for 2 minutes or until the agarose  is clear.

Pouring the Agarose Gel Remove the tube from the water bath and let  cool at room temperature for 2-3 minutes,  swirling every 3 seconds to prevent  coagulation. Pour the melted agarose into the gel tray,  filling it to the top. Allow the gel to begin settling and insert the  sample comb into the gel tray on the end slot  and push down gently on top of the comb  until it stops.
