Unformatted text preview: Click to edit Master subtitle style Effects of Caffeine on Memory in Rats Tested in the Morris Water Maze By Jasmin Sangha and Laleh Rezaei Introduction Materials and Methods Animals  Nine young female Wistar rats were used  Their weight ranged from 57.41- 69.84 grams  The animals were kept at room temperature with food and water available ad libitum  The rats were divided into three groups of 3 rats each. Caffeine Preparation  Caffeine was dissolved in saline (0.9% NaCl) and administered intraperitoneally at a dose of 0.1mL/100g body weight.  Control rats were given saline only.  Low dose experimental rats were given 5mg caffeine dissolved in 100mL of saline.  High dose experimental rats were given 20mg caffeine dissolved in 100mL of saline.
