Stefan Doughty Instructor: Kristin Shearlock English 102 02 April 2008 Immigration Summary In a March 4, 2008 Guardian America article written by Dan Glaister, he explains the details behind a trial over a killing of a Mexican immigrant by border police. He begins by explaining how Javier Domínguez Rivera had a job in America and returned to Mexico to get his two brothers and his girlfriend. According to Glaister, they were headed to America from Puebla, 60 miles south of Mexico City, to New York. After realizing border patrol was nearby, says Glaister, the group decided to head home to try again another time. Only one hundred and fifty yards from being back in Mexico, he explains, the group was pulled over by order patrol. He says the following events are still sketchy, but it ultimately resulted in Rivera being shot in the heart. The agent charged with the shooting is officer Nicholas Corbett. Corbett is the first to be charged with murder since 1994, says Glaister. He went on trial in late February 2008, he
