Make careful observations to determine unknown anions. I. Data: Day One: Test for Ion Results Sulfate White ppt, yellowish and cloudy solution Sulfite Cloudy solution, white ppt Carbonate Clear solutions, limewater became cloudy, white ppt Chloride AgNO caused milky/yellowish solution, white ppt Iodide FeCl caused brownish solution, Hexane created purple layer on top Bromide Purple layer turned orange Phosphate White ppt, chunky, cleared to yellowish then greenish, addition of unknown caused dark green color, cloudy, yellow ppt Nitrate Clear solution, conc. H SO caused dark brown ring in middle, bottom was brown Day Two: Preliminary white/cream ppt, cloudy solution Test for Ion Results Sulfate Cloudy solution, possible white ppt Sulfite Orange solution, cream-colored ppt Carbonate Clear solutions, limewater became cloudy, white ppt Chloride AgNO caused cloudy/milky solution, light yellow ppt Iodide Cloudy solution, yellow ppt, FeCl caused yellow solution, white ppt, clear ring on top Bromide Greenish solution, few bubbles Phosphate Chucky solution, possible white ppt Nitrate Clear solution, Conc.
