Matt Harris 1 700084216 MIBS:Michelson 4/13/08 Worksheet 6 3. (a) In this excerpt from Romans, Paul is talking about sin, its effects, our defense, and the ongoing war between the part of us that longs to please God and the part of us that longs to fulfill our sinful desires. Paul writes that sin is always looming, but God’s grace is sufficient to cover our sin, granted we accept it. Romans 7:14-23 specifically covers the issue of sin within Paul’s life. Now, if you only read these verses, you can easily come to the conclusion that we are all, like Paul, slaves to our sin. To be frank, there is little if any hope or mentions of escape from sin within this passage. We must never take a verse at face value. Rather, we should research the verse and read the passages before and after it to come to an adequate conclusion as to what the verses in question mean. 3. (b) In Galatians 5, Paul seems to feel that the people he is writing to are becoming too legalistic. He also explains to them the meaning of freedom. Freedom is not the choice
