LEGAL TECHNOLOGY 2Podcasts provide a state-of-the-art advancement in technology for the law firm. Itunes describes the podcast as “an episodic program delivered via the Internet . . . [including] audio files, video files, documents, or any combination of the three.” (iTunes 2013). An information publisher (or broadcaster) podcasts a program by posting the episodes and the XML document to a Web server. A consumer subscribes to the podcast using a client application (iTunes) that regularly reads file and downloads new episodes.Producing and distributing podcasts at a low cost provides an excellent resource for communication among smaller law practices. Likewise, larger firms find podcasts appealing for their effectiveness and massive audience potential. Firms may utilize podcasts to send out viable, detailed information about cases or changes in the law on an economic, regularly scheduled, or as needed basis.
