Our world is full of naturally occurring reaction in nature and one of these is corrosion. Corrosion
is an oxidation-reduction reaction where metals, when in contact with water and oxygen, is oxidized. As
a result of oxidation, surface of the metals deteriorates. There is nothing humans can do to stop
corrosion to happen, but preventive measures can be taken. Chemists have already identified ways in
preventing metal corrosion and one of it is by coating the metal surface with paint. A paint is already
helpful in preventing corrosion since coats the metal thus protecting it to be in direct contact with water
and oxygen. However, paint can also degrade in due time because it is also affected by the oxidation,
ultraviolet lights, and humidity. Nonetheless, technology has modernized so paints can be modified to
adapt to these types of reaction. Paint manufacturers can produce a paint specifically designed to
prevent corrosion.
