World War II League of Nations- No army, had limited effectiveness Washington Naval Conference- 9 powers that had interest in East Asia 5 Power Treaty- A 10 year naval holiday (no naval ships are to be made). 9 Power Pact- Not to take additional territory from China. Kellog-Briand Pact- Makes war illegal Japan’s Aggressions- A group of Japanese soldiers set off an explosion on a Japanese controlled railway in Mukden . Japan blames China and occupies Mukden . Eventually occupy all of Manchuria . Japan claims Manchuria and declares it an independent nation called Manchukuo . Italy’s Conquest over Ethiopia- Italy takes over Ethiopia and proclaims the Italian king, Victor Emmanuel III, emperor of Ethiopia. Civil War in Spain- During the Spanish civil war, the Nationalists (vs. Loyalist), led by Francisco Franco, received military aid from Italy and Germany. Anti-Comintern Treaty- (axis powers) Japan, Germany, Italy Chamberlain- Prime Minister of Great Britain Nazi-Soviet Non-Aggression Pact- Negotiated by Molotov (Russian). Russia gets ¼ of
