Nick Orozco Section 5 7 April 2008 Lab Partner: Colin Smolinsky Chapter 10: Optics and the Telescope (Part II) Purpose: ( Recap of Part 1 ) This lab is second part in a two-part series. In this first installment, the purpose was to examine the properties of a single lens system. We learned to use two different techniques for measuring the focal lengths of the eyepiece and the objective. The first technique was known as the simple imaging method and the second method was known as the auto-collimation technique. We learned more about the imaging properties of a single lens system by using the two techniques. The purpose of this second part of the lab is to compare measurements made using the single lens system with the measurements made in a two-lens system. During the second part of the exam, we will construct a simple telescope. As part of our investigation, we will calculate expected focal lengths of the telescope and compare them with the actual
