-The aristocrats had the best land and land was the most important resource -Only members that were aristocrats could participate in the political crap -At the time the Assemble of Male Citizens had little power -Then class tensions rose -It was mainly between farmers that couldn't pay there loans -Pledge themselves as collateral to there land, collateral-was property acceptable of security of loans -If they couldn't pay they would be sold into slavery -The farmers wanted redistribution of the land Chief Solon -He was to address class conflicts and economic problems -Almost got power to change anything -Instead in allowed the aristocrats to keep there land instead of redistribute it -Though he forbid slavery and liberated those farmers who had been sold into slavery -He allowed only wealthy common class to serve in the political affairs
