Jan 28: Media in Persuasion I. What is Media? Product of Interaction between Sources, Channels, Content, Audience o Similarities- o Differences-  U2 and Greenday, groups that supposedly have serious messages in their music.  They are  known for their attempts to make statements in society  vs. US President One given in Superdome at a football game vs. Gettysburg Audience—“saints are coming”- delivered to public as a whole to raise awareness and cause  action.  Vs.  “Gettysburg address” –  The video was first released through YouTube, meaning the audience was intended for the  media age. The medium- the music video is primarily visual, while the speech is primarily audio. Both lengths are exactly the same.  However some feel that the video holds attention better.  In this age, certain forms of media are more persuasive to us. II. Media as Channel: Marshall McLuhan- “The Medium is the Message” Media = Medium + Content He is saying that the way a subject is delivered affects how it is absorbed or interpreted.  o The content- the programming, the written material, or the  messages  that are distributed through media. o The medium- inherent  technical  features of a media that characterize or shape how the content gets  delivered.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

I cannot even describe how much Course Hero helped me this summer. It’s truly become something I can always rely on and help me. In the end, I was not only able to survive summer classes, but I was able to thrive thanks to Course Hero.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
