Title: Experiment – Standing Waves
Hypothesis:
The incidenting wave will bounce off the wall and the reflected wave will match the peaks and
valleys at the same height and depth of the incidenting wave while the resultant standing wave
will match the peaks and valleys of the incidenting wave but at roughly double the height and
depth.
Overview:
The experiment is performed via a computer simulation which allows a visual explanation
between the interactions of incidenting, reflected, and resultant waves. When the animation in
simulation is set in motion simulation displays those three waves interacting with a wall located
on the right hand side of the simulation. The simulations also allow how these interactions relate
to one another once they hit the wall.
