Timothy Han GLS/LDS 102 3/25/06 The Case for Global Warming Over the past few years, the debate and controversy has erupted back and forth between scientists over the consequences of our apparently careless ways. These are no ordinary consequences, however. What is at stake here is, potentially, the fate of the planet. Or at least that is what one side of the environmental scholars of the day warns us of. They say that the effect of our deadly ways will affect our ecosystems drastically. This will set off a chain reaction setting forth upon the world disease, famine, and global chaos. The other side seems to vastly disagree on this matter. The latter argue that the claims of seriousness regarding global warming are incredulous, exaggerated, and downright absurd. They dispute that the strength of the massive global warming campaign lies not in the cold hard facts, but in media-hyped propaganda designed to affirm the paranoia of people that U.S. senator James M. Inhofe would call, “alarmists”. Furthermore, some even claim that the overall effects of global warming are a benefit to the ecosystems and its inhabitants. While these “scholars” bicker back and forth over the seriousness of these claims, however, the common man is left to sit in the proverbial dark.
