Topics and questions for ExamII (Friday April 4 th ) Reminder :  I draw much of the material for short answer questions from the “concept  check” questions at the end of every chapter section; use them as study aids. Note:  definitions may not be limited to the chapter lists below.  For example I have no  list of terms for Ch. 33, but I may ask for a definition of Miriapoda, which is an  arthropod subphylum.  The answer—an arthropod subphylum that includes millipedes  and centipedes—is something that you should get out of the chapter anyway. Ch. 31, Fungi Basic body structure and cellular characteristics (includes terms listed below) Nutrition and lifestyles: explain saprophitism, parasitism, mutualism; give an  example of one each; General mode of reproduction: explain sexual and asexual reproduction, including  terms that relate to the stages of hyphal fusion—plasmogamy, karyogamy. Know  when organism is haploid and diploid, when spores are produced, what type of  cell division is involved in producing spores; name of reproductive structures in  various phyla. Taxonomy and evolution: origin of fungi, basic  characteristics of major groups
