-1Cartilagenous Joints Ÿ Syncondroses: hyaline cartilage between bones, between ribs & sternum, growth plates, between Diaphysis & epiphysis. Ÿ Ÿ Symphyses: fibrocartilage between bones, syphilis pubis, intervertebral joints. Ÿ Ÿ Synovial Joints: all have hyaline (articular) cartilage on ends of bones. All have joint capsules: fibrous capsule around the outside (tough connective tissue). It has a synovial membrane on the outside. Ÿ All have a synovial cavity filled with vicous lubricating fluid. Ÿ Reinforcing ligaments: capsular (part of capsule), extra capsular, intravascular (ACL) Ÿ Nerves & vessels - pain & proprioception, filtration - synovial fluid. Ÿ Proprioception - body awareness Ÿ Fibrocartilage- carticular dish (extra piece - like meniscus in knee) Ÿ Bursae - Fluid (synovial) filled sac between bone & tendon or muscle) Ÿ Tendon sheath - holds tendon against bone - lined with synovial membrane, so tendon can slide
