Lecture notes: The Great Gatsby : Chapters VII - IX Daisy Choice Between Gatsby and Tom Factors that indicate she wants to be with Gatsby o "You're so cool." o The way she touches his arm o Riding with him to New York City Why Daisy went with Tom (in the beginning) o Tom had the money when Gatsby didn't o Tom is forceful o Daisy is easily moved o She couldn't wait o Tom fulfilled her parents expectations o Tom was there when Gatsby was not Why Daisy went with Tom in the end o There would be a messy divorce between the two o Their daughter o Tom had the info about how Gatsby got his money Daisy's Defense She was fooled by Gatsby's act of wealth when he was not rich
