Original post – 300 words – 2 citations – due Wednesday 2 classmates post – 150 words – 2 citations – due Sunday Chapters 8 & 9 How do you think that investigators and therapists, in their quest to find the truth, may have contributed to children making false or exaggerated allegations in these cases? Sometimes investigators and therapists contribute to children making false allegations because of the powerful and negative motives that usually underlies the birth of a false sex abuse allegation, and often questionable motives energize its flow through the governmental systems. At the entry point of a false allegation one almost always finds a parent who has questioned a child in indeterminate ways and often also exposed the child to powerful emotional messages (Miranda & Pastor, n.d.). Then at times the parent will then pass that exchange through his or her personal psychological filter (beliefs, memories, attitudes, resentments, fears) before delivering the filtered information to a law enforcement professional. In turn the professional has the unique opportunity of detecting the false of doubtful nature of the allegations and stopping them. Unfortunately, often times this person also has the power to them the allegation life and elevate it to an official status (Miranda & Pastor, n.d.). What implications do these types of cases have for people who run child care centers?
