Evo Morales Also known as Evo is the current president of Bolivia. He has been declared the countries first fully indigenous head of state since the Spanish Conquest in 470 years. He is the leader of Bolivia’s cocalero movement, which is a loose federation of coca leaf-growing. This is significant in our time because these coca leaf groups are resisting the efforts of the United States government to eradicate coca in the province of Chapare in Central Bolivia. The US believes that Evo is essentially strengthening the drug trade. Ngo Dinh Diem He was a provincial governor of Vietnam, but during the French-Indonesia War he left for the United States. When he was in the US he met influential Catholics like JFK, He told JFK that he opposed communism and French colonialism and argued that he would make a good leader of Vietnam when the French withdrew. When the French withdrew the Geneva conference decided that Diem proposed the best opportunity to keep South Vietnam from falling under the control of
