Linsey Berardi PLSI 200 [12] D. Caserta 30 April 2014 Essential Question Ch. 17 Like everything in American today, Congress has come along ways since it was first created. The old system chairs were relatively strong with a small staff and few subcommittees, but now in the new system chairs are relatively weak with large staff and many subcommittees. The Congress is made of two parts, House of Representatives and the Senate; the house is composed of 435 representatives while the senate only has 100 representatives. In the paper I will address weather or not there should be limits on how long you can serve in congress, looking at both the pros and the cons. Right now you can serve in the House of Representatives for 2-year term while the Senate is a 6-year term and as long as the keep getting reelected they can stay in Congress. A change that might make our system either more or less democratic is to limit the number of terms people can serve in Congress. The most
