2012~2013 semester 1 Applied Ethics Individual Assignment Background: Final examination is an important way to evaluate your performance in studying during each semester. The aim of a final examination is to make students know how much knowledge they are really mastered this semester and it will help them adjust their methods and attitudes for studying better in the future. Most parents very care about their children’s grades of each final examination. And the high expectations from parents usually give students much pressure when they are facing the final examination. Most students will make efforts to review for the final exam, while a few people try to get good grades with some unethical ways. Case: This is my real experience when I was a senior 1 student. Before an English examination, my friend Amy asked me to send her the answers of multiple-choices through the cellphone. She told me that her mother required her to have at least 120 marks in this final examination, but she did not have enough time to do the review of it. She really worried about she cannot reach her mother’s standard and she would be punished by her mother. After hearing this, I felt hesitated. I wanted to reject her because cheating is incorrect and it is unfair to other students, however, I wasn’t willing to damage our friendship. So I chose to promise her. I sent her the answers without being exposed. And finally, she got 130 marks, which were much higher than most other students’.
