How to Improve Your Short-Term Memory Summary and Opinion This article discusses the three stages of memory, sensory, short term and long term. Examples are listed in order to help the reader understand what exactly short term memory helps you with, which allows us to relate it to our life. The short term memory stores bits of information temporarily, roughly 15-30 seconds, that will eventually be forgotten or sent to long term memory. It states that you can only store four pieces of information in this memory at a time. This could include various tidbits such as a phone number or even a comment you'd like to add to a conversation.
