COURSE OUTLINE2021/2022COURSE NAME:Chemical Engineering and Testing LabCOURSE CODE:CHME1225COURSE DESCRIPTIONStudents operate pilot plant processes, analyze the results from these pilot plants and preform laboratory testing on hydrocarbonproducts using standardized industry methods. The pilot plants used include processes commonly found in midstream anddownstream operations in Alberta. Examples include distillation, absorption/stripping, pipelines, gas compression, bitumenupgrading, gas flow measurement, three phase separation and others. The students operate these processes using state of the artcontrol systems as part of a process team. This course also introduces the students to both laboratory and on-line testing ofpetroleum samples.
