PROFESSIONAL ROLES AND VALUES TASK 22Professional Roles and Values Task 2In the presented case of Mr. N wanting to see his mistress before he dies, and clearlywishing to keep that information from his wife, I would help him. There is an obvious ethicaldilemma here, not to mention a violation of my own personal principles, such as a belief infidelity. It is impossible in this situation to completely adhere to all ethical principles, specificallythat of veracity or truth-telling, and not violate other ethical principles. When reviewing this casestudy, I found that, based on my own personal value system, my immediate inclination was tohelp Mr. N with very little hesitation in spite of the areas where this choice would clearlyinfringe on some of those values. In life, with some maturity, comes the knowledge that it is frequently impossible tofollow all ethical principles in every situation. Personal values will always be a factor, and sowill the personal value of each ethical principle to the individual. It is therefore especiallyconvenient for me personally, that I rank veracity fairly low. To tell the absolute truth all of thetime would prohibit the use of the polite lie, and I will always prefer a polite liar to someone wholacks kindness or good manners.Certain ethical principles often referred to in healthcare must be considered in evaluatingthis scenario, specifically those of beneficence, non-maleficence, autonomy, and justice.
