Youmans 1 Roger Youmans Jr. Intro to Physical Education Final Draft Professor Lowden Why are people not physically active and how can they change this? There are plenty of reasons why people are not physically active and they can consist of personal reasons, location reasons and health reasons. When many people call these reasons good ones, I just flat out call them bad excuses. For every reason there is for not being physically active, there is at least three solutions to fix them and help you to become physically active. Without being physically active, you as a person are also lacking plenty of benefits that people achieve from being active. The best people are the active people. I am sure there are many personal reasons that people can give for not being physically active but here are some of the most common ones. You may tell yourself, I am way to busy, I have a family, a job and plenty of other demands to take care of. Well to fix that you could always wake up earlier to go exercise, work out during part of lunch, or even make some time in the evening. Even easier to fix this problem would be you could put physical activity into your everyday schedule by doing housework at a faster pace, do some outside work that gets your blood flowing or by doing something as easy as washing your car! Youmans 2 physically active, keep your family active and this will make it easier to stay active too as you can just go to the park, go for a walk or just play a game with the family. Some people may just say something as easy as I am too tired to work out after a long day. My response to this would be that you could always break your workouts down into like segments of say 10 minutes and 3-5 times a day. It may seem easier and less tiring then say a 30 minute workout once a day but is just as good for you. There is almost no one that cannot find room in their day to work out, it’s just a matter of willpower and what will you give up to achieve the act of being active. There are also trick to sneaking physically activity into your day, you could always take the stairs instead of the elevators, instead of searching for that close parking spot go for the one in the back so you walk more. Some people feel that being physically active means being the correct weight, so they are not motivated to exercise. Being active helps a lot more then your weight, it lowers cholesterol, blood pressure and lowers the odds of having heart disease, diabetes and cancer. Physical activity also may lift your mood and increase your energy level, and if all this doesn’t motivate you then just do it for fun!
