MCO 120: Mass Media & Society • Required Assignment S I T C O M   A N A L Y S I S Before completing and submitting this document, RE-NAME IT AS INSTRUCTED in the session folder. To respond to each item, use your mouse to click/highlight the “ XXX” and begin typing. (This should delete the “ XXX”s and ensure that your typing starts at the correct place and in the correct font.)   Student Name:  Jonathan Hersch Student #:  1205064389 Semester (Season & Year): Fall 2015 This TEMPLATE has THREE PARTS:  You should be able to simply click over and highlight the “ XXX”s to type over them to fill in your own data. You MIGHT have to do a little editing to “clean it up” – but the TEMPLATE works for most students. PART I: CHOSEN SHOW, BACKGROUND ( 1) Chosen sitcom: That 70s Show (2) When did you watch this show as a kid? I have watched this show for a majority of my childhood starting in the early 2000s while in gradeschool, and it has always been one of my favorites that I still watch reruns to this day. As a younger kid when the show was airing I would generally catch reruns of the new episodes every week at night while watching tv after homework, or on the weekends.  (3) When did you watch this show for the assignment? (Include TV Network, Website, etc.) I still watch reruns to this day when they come on the local channels. I am currently 21 in my senior year of college. For this assignment I watched the show over the weekend using the Netflix streaming app on my TV.

PART II: LAUGH TRACK PARTICIPATION Every time you hear the “laugh track” (a real audience or a soundtrack of artificial laughter), you MUST physically laugh aloud with it. Moreover, every time you hear an audience “aaah” or “boo” or “hiss” or other sound that would not have been “heard” by the characters in the show, you also must make that noise. Use this table to keep a running tab of the number of times you laughed, booed, awwwed, etc. Be sure to tell me how many times you HAD to laugh because it was part of the assignment, not because what you heard or saw was funny enough to make you laugh. This is not an EXCEL table (as Blackboard doesn’t accept EXCEL). It’s just tabs with borders and lines— but don’t worry about the lines or borders, as they don’t appear in the text version of your submission that I see.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

I cannot even describe how much Course Hero helped me this summer. It’s truly become something I can always rely on and help me. In the end, I was not only able to survive summer classes, but I was able to thrive thanks to Course Hero.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
