Discussions starters for Spengler Part III 1. Is it true that only a state with specific classes is a true state?  What is the importance of such classes? Why must a minority (or an upper  class) rule the majority (or the lower classes) according to Spengler? 2. After the French Revolution, France disappeared from European politics.  Must all countries do the same after such a revolution? (pg 363) 3. Rationalism is the enemy of tradition, but which of the two is the one  responsible for decline? 4. Minority (1st and 2nd estates) rule countries, but the 3rd estate revolts and often gains  control/influence in a country's affairs.  So which of the two groups is really in control Spengler talks very highly of the strength of leaders even if the governments are not ideal. Do  you think his tone would change if he wrote after Hitler Stalin and Mao?
