LU Athletic Event: Women’s’ Soccer Philip Kada The Longwood athletics event that I chose to attend was a women’s soccer game at home against Appalachian State University. The reason I attended the event was because my hall mate and I are soccer fans and we heard about the face off at the home soccer field. What I learned from going to watch the soccer match was that the soccer field is located far from campus, about a twenty minute uphill walk. The women’s team faired well against the seasoned D-1 Appalachian State team and held a 0-0 tie at the end of regulation time. The game went into overtime and App State eventually scored on Longwood, ending the game. I witnessed that the women’s team was not very

Unformatted text preview: disappointed with the loss and imagine that because they played a good game, putting all their effort in, but just coming up short. I feel like I know where they are coming from because our cross country team doesn’t always win, but we put 100 percent of our dedication into training and competition just as the women’s soccer team does. I know that with a hard work and time, all of Longwood’s athletic programs will be remarkable given a few years. In the future I would recommend to the planers of this event to possibly host a shuttle up to the soccer field for students that do not have transportation. I enjoyed the athletic event and hope to be able to watch the men’s soccer team in action....
