fōns sacer The Sacred Spring, page 6 Quintus stayed at Salvius’ house for the whole winter. Because he had been invited by the king, he often went to Cogidubnus’ palace. Quintus used to tell him much about his own life because the king always wanted to hear something new. When spring approached, Cogidubnus became seriously ill. Many doctors, who had been summoned to the palace, sought a cure for the illness. However, the illness became worse. The king anxiously consulted Quintus and Salvius about a cure. “My dear Quintus,” he said, “you are a man of good sense. I want you to give me advice. Should I go to the sacred spring?”
