Parrots 2 The analysis of animal wisdom is utilized in lot of areas of science to get a better knowledge of cognition and basic learning techniques. Normally, primates as well as rats have been used to carry out experiments which provide clues about animal wisdom. In recent times, more scientists have carried out studies on other creatures for example parrots. Carrying out experiments permits scientists to develop comparative analysis of human and animal behavior. Experiments are designed to test theory or develop support for current hypotheses. Replicating outcomes of an experiment, allows scientist to make suppositions regarding the validation of the experiment carried out. The objective of this document is to critique Irene M. Pepperburg’s 18 year study for an African Grey parrot called Alex. Independent Variable Alex the parrot works as the independent variable in Irene’s test. As per a lot of surveys African Greys’ are the first selection for pet birds. The “reputation might be due to the African Grey Parrot's wisdom as well as exceptional mimetic capabilities” (May, para. 1, 1996).
